BIO

Avery Bonnette is a printmaker based in Lubbock, Texas. She received her BFA in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking from Texas Tech University in December 2024. Currently she is doing a year long residency with Charles Adam’s Studio Project.

Using collagraphs, aquatint etchings, and paper cut-outs, Avery explores the intersection of human intervention in nature and patriarchal structures. Common symbols in her work, including flowers, fawns, and female figures, portray themes of unknowing, rearranging, and cycles. All of the nude female figures in her work reflect a state of pure existence, unaware and unaccommodating to a male gaze.

Avery's work has been featured on the cover of The Wall Literary Journal and has talked about her work at the Stewarding Our Water Future conference in Amarillo, Texas. She worked as a studio tech at the Texas Tech printmaking studio, was the president of the Tech Print Club, and is currently the Assistant Collection Manager with the Art Division at the Museum at Texas Tech.
